The most famous nurse of all time, Florence Nightingale, said, "I think one's feelings waste themselves in words; they ought all to be distilled into actions which bring results."

She was certainly someone who believed in action - does that describe you? Are you the kind of person who truly cares and who can't just stand by when someone needs your help?

If you have an interest in health and people and, like Florence, feel a burning need to 'make a difference', then you should consider a Nursing course. You will study a wide variety of material - everything from medicine and epidemiology to helping worried pre-natal mothers and practicing midwifery. On top of that, you will learn about ethics, man-management, decision-making, budgeting, health law, and essential data-handling techniques.

To be a practicing nurse, you will need at least an RN or you can go straight to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). If you are already an RN, then there are upgrade courses available.

On successful completion of your nursing course, you could consider a career in:

  • Nursing
  • Nurse Educator
  • Community Health Advisor
  • Paramedic
  • Nursing Home Attendant
