Woodrow Wilson said, "The method of political science is the interpretation of life; its instrument is insight, a nice understanding of subtle, unformulated conditions."
Do you have a natural insight into what makes people and nations tick? Do you relish getting to the heart of the matter or winning a debate?
With a keen interest in your government, you will discover in detail the way it works, the processes behind the scenes, the effects of decisions, and the history of political thought. You will learn how to reason critically, win opponents around to your way of thinking, and study the greats and not-so-greats of American politics. However your studies will not end at the US seaboard - you will also discover how other political systems function and who their key protagonists are.
As a political scientist, you will observe and study the policy-makers although, with your training, it is a logical progression to become a policy-maker yourself.
On successful completion of your political science course, you could consider the following career options:
- Public administration
- Teaching
- Business
- Law practice
- Law enforcement
